Daddy Long Legs – A new musical
Set in New England in the early 20th century, Daddy Long Legs is the story of an orphan girl, Jerusha, who is given an opportunity to have a college education by a mysterious benefactor whom she calls “Daddy Long Legs”. The only condition of this benefactor’s largesse is simple: Jerusha must write him a letter each week describing her life and studies at school, but must never expect a letter in reply.
Seeking:
Jerusha: Female, early 20s. A poor girl, brought up in an orphanage with an internal glow. A clever, original thinker; wise beyond her years. Very adept at comedy. Killer alto with a pop sensibility.
Jervie: Male, mid-30s. An East Coast aristocrat; extremely charming, likable and funny. Tall and good looking with a constant smile in the corner of his eyes. Excellent high baritone/tenor.
Projected start date: Several LORT companies of this production are pending after January 2011. Auditions will be held in NYC in Early July, as the director, John Caird and the composer, Paul Gordon will be in the US and available to participate in the casting. Seeking submissions from Actors’ Equity Members only for these auditions.
