Knights of Columbus Seeking Talent for – ‘Urinetown’ – NJ!

What: Auditions for URINETOWN, THE MUSICAL!

When: Monday, October 10th (7-10pm) & Tuesday, October 11th (7-10pm)

Where: Knights of Columbus (770 Kinderkamack Road, River Edge, NJ)

Who: Anybody, ages 17 +

What To Prepare: Two songs, one upbeat and one ballad; (Our musical director will be there, so you can bring sheet music for accompaniment)

Performances: January 26th-29th (Thursday – 8pm, Friday – 8pm, Saturday – 2pm & 8pm, Sunday – 2pm; 5 performances)

Performance Venue: Fair Lawn Community Center

Rehearsals: **VERY LIGHT REHEARSAL SCHEDULE** We rehearse 2 nights a week and one weekend day. We are very flexible when it comes to scheduling. Rehearsals will start the last week in October and run through the performances in January (obviously with breaks during all the major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chanukah, New Year’s)

Casting: We are looking for a cast of 20-25 performers. Plenty of leading male & female roles for all different voice parts. We plan to incorporate some improvisation into the show, as well. The beauty about URINETOWN is that it features singers, actors and dancers. You do not HAVE to be a “triple threat” to get cast in the show. For example, if you know somebody who is just a dancer (or just a singer, or just an actor) looking to perform, don’t hesitate to send them our way.

URINETOWN: THE MUSICAL is a satirical comedy musical, with music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis, and book by Kotis. It satirizes the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, and municipal politics. The show also parodies musicals such as The Cradle Will Rock and Les Misérables, and the Broadway musical itself as a form. In reverse pantomime style, the unconventional plotline shatters audience expectations of a pleasant ending.

Here is our URINETOWN rehearsal/production staff:
Director: Michael Haber | Choreographer: Samantha Eulas | Musical Director: Robert Diton | Stage Manager: Amanda Villafuerte

We are also looking to involve the community as much as possible. If you’d like to help get involved, please contact us! We are CONSTANTLY looking for assistance with the company, including stage crew, costuming, hair/makeup, set construction, ticket sales, publicity, light board operation, etc. Any questions? E-mail us at: onedreamprod@gmail.com!

Full title: HAIR: THE AMERICAN TRIBAL LOVE ROCK MUSICAL.
Seeking, for possible future replacements in the touring company:

Casting Directors’ notes: “THIS SHOW WAS CREATED FOR, AND WE ARE SEEKING, A MULTICULTURAL COMPANY. IN SOME INSTANCES ROLES WERE CREATED FOR ACTORS OF A SPECIFIC ETHNICITY. IN THESE CASES IT IS NOTED IN THE CHARACTER DESCRIPTION.

“Please note that, as with the original production, some nudity will be a part of these performances. However, nudity is voluntary and not a requirement for all cast members.

“The TRIBE should be composed of unique, high energy young singers with great rock/pop voices who march to their own drummer. They should represent as many different physical types as possible and sing like mad. This may be stating the obvious but we are particularly interested in performers with long, wild or freaky hair!”

Sheila:
20s. Wild and dynamic activist, with the political t-shirts and buttons to prove it. Second-semester student at NYU. Passionately involved in things, causes and people. Hung up on Berger. Low F, belt to C.

Berger:
Man, mid – late 20s to very early 30s. Sexy as all get out. Bright, funny, loud, wild and playful, but serious underneath. TOTALLY Charismatic and entertaining, he loves to make people laugh. Tolerant and open; he loves everyone in the Tribe, and provides them with an emotional center. Hung up on Sheila. Role for an actor with great musical, comic and dramatic skills. And a GREAT voice. Rock tenor to F#.

Dionne:
African American, mid – late 20s to very early 30s. Warm and compassionate. A strong presence, with a strong sense of justice and irony. Just plain obsessed. KILLER R&B voice with gospel overtones to open the show with “Aquarius”, as well as featured solo material throughout the show. Belt to D.

Broadway Production – ‘Rebecca’ – Seeking Equity Actors_$1653 Weekly!

Rebecca – Equity Principal Auditions
Broadway / Production Contract Currently $1,653/week minimum.
1st reh: 2/6/12. 1st preview: 3/27/12. Opens 4/22/12.

Based on the world-famous novel by Daphne Du Maurier. Musical has had several
successful productions throughout Europe. Story is set in 1926.

Seeking (all roles are available):
Note: All principals are English.

Maxim de Winter:English, late 30s – mid 40s. Upper-class, dashing, cultured.
Owner of Manderley. Has recently lost his beautiful, accomplished wife Rebecca
in what the world believes was a tragic drowning. In fact, however, he killed
her himself. He is haunted by her and by his crime, and remains so even after he
marries the innocent young girl he meets in Monte Carlo. Expresses his love to
her as if she were a child or doesn’t pay attention; lost in his own morose
thoughts. Range: Low Bb (9th below middle C) up to very strong Ab above the
staff. Dramatic tenor, with a not-too-legit sound.

Jack Favell:English, late 30s – mid 40s. Working-class with pretensions.
Rebecca’s cousin. Swarthy good looks. Lacking integrity and given to arrogant
and egotistical behavior, he drinks to excess. Was Rebecca’s lover while she was
married to Maxim and tried to blackmail him. Range: C up to F. Character
baritenor.

Frank Crawley:English, mid 40s – early 50s. Middle-class. Pleasant-looking.
Maxim’s kind, loyal overseer at Manderley. Befriends the second Mrs. de Winter
almost immediately. Range: C up to E, w/optional high G#. Warm but powerful
baritone.

Ben:English, 50s. Lower-class, Cockney. Strange-looking but harmless; somewhat
mentally challenged. Was witness to Rebecca’s wanton way of life, and to the
events of the evening of her drowning. Paranoid, and frightened that he will be
punished and locked away. Range: C# up to E. Character tenor.

Mrs. de Winter (“I”):English, early – mid 20s. Lower middle-class. Shy,
self-conscious but very appealing. Begins as a paid companion to a wealthy
American woman. In Monte Carlo, she meets and marries Maxim. At first, she is
gauche and insecure; she cannot understand Maxim’s sudden shifts in mood. It is
not until they are faced with the potential reality of his conviction for his
crime that she becomes a strong, mature woman – confident in the love she has
with him. We never learn the heroine’s name. She is referred to through out the
piece as “I”. Range: Low F below the staff up to third-space E. Clear, clean,
seamless sound, not too belty. Starts sweet and mixy, then gains vocal maturity
throughout the show, with vocal power at the top as well.

Mrs. Danvers:English, late 40s – early 50s. The sinister, imposing housekeeper
at Manderley. She was obsessively devoted to Rebecca, and remains so even after
her death. Despises Maxim’s young wife for taking her mistress’s place. Vengeful
and spiteful. The power of her presence is such that the slightest glance could
make one’s blood run cold. Range: Low F up to belted F# (top line of staff).

Beatrice:English, mid 40s – mid 50s. Upper-class. Maxim’s sister. One might call
her handsome. On the surface, she seems a bit blunt, but she is friendly,
outgoing and forthright. Part of the English manor set, a lover of horses and
sports. Range: Bb below middle C to show/pop/belted D. Warm, contemporary
Broadway belt.
