Roelf: Male late 30s – 50: A white South African train driver. Filled with pent up rage and sorrow. Tremendously commanding. Must be able to learn and handle Afrikans dialect.</p>
<p>Simon: Male 55 – 70s: An old black South African grave digger. Simple, big-hearted, poor. A man of gravitas. Must be able to learn and handle African dialect.</p>
<p>NYC auditions will be held by appointment only on a date to be determined. Seeking submissions from Actors&#8217; Equity Members only for these auditions.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We are doing a two week workshop and in-progress showing of &#8220;East Toward Home,&#8221; a new movement-theater piece in development in New York City in late July &#8211; early August. Performers will be paid a stipend at market rate for rehearsals and performance.</p>
<p>Starting immediately, we are looking for an actor to play the role of Woody (M, age range 40 &#8211; 60) Based on Woody Guthrie, telling stories adapted from historical anecdotes of his life. Performer needs strong storytelling, acting, and singing skills. Good guitar self-accompaniment skills are a definite bonus, though not absolutely necessary.</p>
<p>AND/OR</p>
<p>YOUTH (age range 20 &#8211; 40) &#8211; Fleeing from a New York Jewish left-wing background, a Woody Guthrie wanna-be, streetwise but book-smart, on a quest for his identity on a quest for a sense of self. A searcher, recounting his adventure hitch-hiking around America following in the footsteps of Woody Guthrie, his cultural hero, looking for his own voice. Moves/dances well, with good folksinging voice. Youthful.</p>

A “slam poet” and thus, needs to speak and move in a more heightened style. Plays many characters, young and old, male and female, so versatility is essential. A deep soulful, complex man.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>&#8216;Birthday Cake&#8217; is an independent short film about two young men with contrasting values and their way of life, and its theme centers on a Bible verse, &#8216;Whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.&#8217; The story follows these men who are having their birthdays on the same day; they encounter similar events and same people, but their end of day turn out to be quite different.</p>
<p>Non Union:<br />
Caucasian Male / 25-30 yrs. / Tae is an extremely good-looking, tall, well-dressed, successful doctor who is having a greatest birthday. Tae acquires a million dollar deal from a donor couple for his hospital.</p>
<p>Hispanic Male / 25-30 yrs. / A well-mannered, kind, and loving Juan always rides his bicycle everywhere in the city. He works at a Burger Joint. Juan is a good Samaritan character who can&#8217;t pass by those in need.</p>
<p>Middle Eastern Female / 31-40 yrs. / Salid loves to bake cakes for others. She is a nanny for Tae&#8217;s daughter, and a dear friend of Juan.</p>
<p>Male / Any yrs. / An extremely obese man on a wheelchair. He is unable to cross the street.</p>
<p>Male / Any yrs. / A homeless man on street, who devours food as he recieves from Juan</p>
<p>Caucasian Female / 6-10 yrs. / Haily does not get to spend much time with her successful parents. With her nanny, Salid, she makes a birthday card for his dad, Tae.</p>
<p>Either gender / 51-60 yrs. / An extremely rich couple gives a million-dollar donation to the hospital in memory of his child who was diagnosed with eye-cancer.</p>
<p>Either gender / 15-17 yrs. / Kids trying to steal a bike. A very short scene.</p>
<p>Either gender / Any yrs. / Rich, well-dressed friends of Tae are throwing a surprise birthday party at his luxurious manhattan apartment.</p>
<p>This is a Non-paying job, but actors will be provided with a copy of the film. The filming will be held during the first and second week of August, mostly on weekends. This is a great opportunity to work with young, talented, and professional crew. The film will be submitted to numerous film festivals. please send your resume, headshots or photos via email.
