John is in the throes of hypocrisy. And he’s come to realize it, even against the backdrop of the near-future, as good and evil are so deliberately defined by social position. He’s a cop. He performs a ‘heroic’ deed as deemed by the general bureaucracy and is further elevated in ‘hero’ status. But how can he be a hero when in reality he abuses his power? So he spends his nights assaulting the public, hoping to be proved the sham he believes himself to be. Hoping to be arrested to send a message. But will it fall on deaf ears? Casting A Comedy
Posted by Calls & Castings in Uncategorized on August 25th, 2009
Comedy Auditions – “Local Tourists” is a dark, absurdist comedy inspired by the current recession in America, as well as the ongoing struggle for those on America’s margins to eke out their own slice of happiness within the confines of their otherwise bleak lives. The film tells the story of LARK, SAL, and CANADA, three hapless, motel dwelling friends living on the Jersey Shore, who are faced with the prospect of losing their custodial jobs on the boardwalk. The impending layoff tests the bond between the trio of comrades, and forces each aging misfit to decide whether he should stay in town, or go.
